Riera has officially ended his involvement in Slovenia and will be introduced as the new coach of Bordeaux in the coming days, where he once also played.

Today, Celje officially said goodbye to Spanish coach Albert Riera via social media, who is thus rapidly leaving the bench of the counts. It is clear that he is going to France, where he will take over the reins at second-division team Bordeaux, where he once also played – and where Slovenian striker Žan Vipotnik, who transferred from Maribor to Ligue 2 this summer, is currently a member.

"Albert Riera is no longer the coach of NK Celje. The 41-year-old Spanish strategist is saying goodbye to the Celje bench after 17 matches and will take over Bordeaux in the coming days. The club thanks Albert for his work and wishes him all the best in his future career."

At this point, this is no longer news, and the football public is much more interested these days in when his successor will be confirmed.

This will almost certainly be Croatian strategist Damir Krznar, who lost his job at Maribor a few days ago, where he was succeeded by Ante Šimundža. Only official confirmation is awaited, and Damir Krznar has also given a statement to one of the Slovenian sports media. It is expected that Celje will share the news with fans soon, and they currently occupy first place in the First League.
