Despite Turkey being level on points with group leaders Croatia in the Euro qualifiers, manager Stefan Kuntz was informed of his dismissal via a phone call from the federation.
His contract, set to last until post-Euro 2024, is now set for termination. An announcement regarding his successor is expected next week, with Joachim Löw, Germany's World Cup-winning coach from 2014, being touted as a potential candidate.
While there's no official confirmation yet, Kuntz, who clinched two European titles with Germany's U-21s, has been in the media spotlight as a potential replacement for Germany's recently dismissed coach, Hansi Flick. Flick's departure followed a 4-1 loss to Japan, who subsequently defeated Türkiye 4-2 in what turned out to be Kuntz's final match.
