Oliver Glasner has emerged as a leading contender for the RB Leipzig head coach job, with Sky Germany reporting early contact with the Austrian’s representatives.
Oliver Glasner could be heading back to the Bundesliga next season, with Sky Germany reporting that the Crystal Palace boss is one of the main contenders to become RB Leipzig’s next head coach.
With Sebastian Hoeneß officially extending his contract at Stuttgart, Leipzig have moved quickly to consider alternative options, and Glasner now appears to be at the top of the list.
The report claims that there has already been contact between Leipzig and Glasner’s representatives, though any deal would require further negotiation. Glasner is currently under contract at Crystal Palace until 2026, meaning a transfer fee would be necessary to secure his release.
However, it's understood that the Austrian coach has an exit clause in his current deal with the Premier League side, which could ease Leipzig’s pursuit if Glasner is open to the move.
Glasner is no stranger to German football, having previously managed VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, with whom he won the UEFA Europa League in 2022. His tactical approach and track record in developing young players make him a strong fit for Leipzig’s long-term project.
For now, Zsolt Löw is serving as interim boss, but Leipzig are expected to finalise their new head coach ahead of the 2025–26 season.
