Barcelona president Joan Laporta has highlighted the admirable gesture of Polish star striker Robert Lewandowski, who offered to take a pay cut for the benefit of the club.
During a recent media meeting, Laporta specifically praised one of the team’s biggest stars, Robert Lewandowski, for his willingness to help the club through its financial struggles.
Laporta revealed that in light of the club's difficulties in complying with financial fair play regulations, Lewandowski was willing to reduce his salary.
"When Lewandowski learned that we would need to work hard to meet financial fair play requirements, he himself offered to take a pay cut. I greatly appreciate his gesture, but I told him it wouldn’t be necessary. Lewandowski is very loyal and dedicated to the club," said Laporta.
Lewandowski, with an annual gross salary of €34 million, is currently the highest-paid player at the club.
