Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay is thriving in Serie A and loving Italian life—especially the food. The Scot says he's finally enjoying fruit and vegetables thanks to Italy’s fresh produce.
Scott McTominay has quickly become a fan favourite in Naples—not just for his on-field performances, but also for his growing love of Italian cuisine.
Since arriving from Manchester United last summer in a €30 million deal, the 28-year-old Scotland international has flourished under Antonio Conte at Napoli, contributing seven goals and four assists in 31 appearances this season.
And while his form has been strong, McTominay is equally excited about the Italian lifestyle—especially the fresh produce.
"My God, the tomatoes here are – bellissimo!" McTominay told local media. "I never ate them at home because they were just red water, but here they actually taste like tomatoes! Now I even snack on them. I've also gotten used to other fruits and vegetables—everything here is very fresh and tasty. It's incredible!"
The midfielder is now fully adapted to life in southern Italy, both culturally and professionally, and is playing a key role in Napoli’s title push. The reigning champions are currently second in Serie A, just three points behind leaders Inter, with only eight rounds remaining in what promises to be a thrilling finish to the season.
So far, McTominay’s move to Italy has proven to be a wise investment for Napoli—and a delicious change of scenery for the player himself.
